Dealing With Home Building Selection Fears

Dealing with home building selection fears for a custom built home can be overwhelming because you have limitless possibilities (within budget). Here are a few tips to help ease your mind when it comes time to pick your selections out.

1.Houzz! If you aren’t on Houzz yet then create an account immediately! Houzz is similar to Pinterest except its everything dealing with homes! You can search millions of pictures and create idea boards for each room so that you have pictures to reference the style that you are going for. It’s helpful if you share your idea board with the Operations Manager so she can get an understanding of your style so she can help guide you during the selection process.

2. Don’t worry about what other people think. This is your home and it’s a big investment so don’t worry about appealing to the masses. Everyone has different tastes but at the same time everyone can appreciate the hardwork and thought process of why you picked the selections that you did.  Don’t be afraid to go outside the box even if it’s as small as using gold knobs and pulls on your cabinets!

3. Don’t overthink! Grey is very in right now and it’s sort of taking place of white. Customers really overthink grey and whether it’s a fad or if it’s here to stay. I personally think grey is around so stay, it goes with too many other variables in the house for it to be a fad. Grey, like all other colors comes in various forms, there are some grey’s with tints of brown, blue, green, purple, etc so you can always pick a grey with other hues in it ; for all of you who are still unsure about the color I recommend a “Greige” and Sherwin Williams has multiple shades to give you balance between a beige and grey.

4. Trust yourself. Time and time again I’ve seen customers second guess every want and idea they had for their home because they were unsure how it would look. Many customers worry that their ideas won’t flow together into one cohesive look but there are no rules when it comes to selections! Everything doesn’t have to match and with the help of our team we will make sure that your vision comes together.

5. Have fun! You are in charge so make sure you are getting the layout that works best for you! There are so many different options you have to choose from so play around with different styles, colors, and ideas. Selections are what make your house unique to who you are and make it stand out from your neighbors home. R.M. Clemens Company has a unique selections process that will help you find what you want within your allowances to keep you on budget and excited for each step in the process.
